Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas
In 1992, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas moved from its stately headquarters of 71 years on South Akard to its state-of-the-art building at 2200 N. Pearl St. The Kohn Pedersen Fox designed facility includes 1.19 million gross square feet over an eight-acre site. The distinctive design supports a multifaceted facility for the central bank of the United States.

Dallas Convention Center

Located in the heart of downtown, the Dallas Convention Center is bigger, better, faster and more beautiful than ever. Learn about the operation of the two million square foot facility with four physical plants and a chilled water loop that covers four plants. Learn about the Utility Performance Project and the center's efforts toward a Silver LEED® certification.

Old Red Courthouse
US$6.00/person

This building restoration tour highlights 115 years of history within the walls of Dallas’ Old Red Courthouse. The massive structure opened its doors in 1892. While Old Red served as the heart of Dallas legal affairs for many years, decades of decline left the building in disrepair until a $48 million renovation project breathed new life into Old Red’s walls. Today Old Red is the home to the Old Red Museum of Dallas County History & Culture. Tour groups have the unique opportunity to see the 1892 restored courtroom, the restoration room, the great hall and the grand iron staircase. Pieces of original molding, a recovered stained glass window, early photographs revealing architectural details, building ghost lines and original paint colors hidden under layers of plaster all help bring to life the amazing story of Old Red.

The Dallas Morning News

Tour participants will view the Dallas Morning News corporate offices, including reconfigured areas of the facility that formerly housed the newspaper’s production equipment. If time permits, the tour will also include the facility’s boiler chiller plants, which may be of particular interest to some due to the different generations of equipment housed separately, but configured to function as one plant. Members of The Dallas Morning News’ facilities, engineering and operations teams will be available to answer any questions about the facility.

Dallas City Hall
This modern civic structure is another signature building of Dallas. It was designed by renowned architect, I.M. Pei, fashioned like an inverted triangular prism featuring angular forms. The idea of a new city hall for Dallas emerged in the mid 1960s, as part of a program of “Goals for Dallas,” intended to help re-establish the city’s reputation after the assassination of President Kennedy. Pei’s design involves a dramatic cantilevered facade, facing north toward the office towers of Dallas.

American Airlines Center
